The connection to your photo is kind of obvious here as well. I can't believe I climbed this sand dune, the highest one in Europe. There were stairs but the first quarter of them were covered in sand. The dune was sliding down around the steps, like a landslide, giving me this weird sensation of riding an escalator. But climbing it was torture. I had to haul myself along the rope like a skier going up a broken rope tow. This dune grows 1 to 5 meters a year and is moving into the nearby forest. There is a beautiful view of the Atlantic ocean on the other side, making the climb well worth it. I, fortunately, wasn't one of the ones who had passed out from heat stroke. I'll have to go into training if I'm ever to make a trip like this one again.
